Hold on to me as we go, As we roll down this unfamiliar road

Spring 13 semester is officially upon me and I will officially say that if I survive  it will truly be a miracle. I've avoided certain classes that also require labs mainly because I really enjoy the comfort my well paying job has provided for me these past 2years. I've been able to pay full tuition { no student loans to date} pay for a brand new car {also, no loan there} and join a sorority. So hopefully, by some miracle, my work and school schedule will work itself out and I won't go belly up {its one of my worst fears}

BUT, no matter what happens in the next few days, weeks, or months.. I know I will survive. Life has the amazing ability of continuing on. All we have to do is pick up the pieces and believe it will get better. I have amazing support systems through my best friends, my family, and my kappa sisters.

I DON'T want this to be a "oh pity me" type of blog post. I'm not one to advertise my struggles and then relish in the incoming pity people give... instead I will put out my top things I'm looking forward to this Spring semester (because if you have something to look forward to..time seems to fly)

1.  All of the events on campus.. SO much fun.. get involved peeps.
2. SPRING BREAK (mainly because it is over my birthday)
3. MY 21st BIRTHDAY.. who isn't excited for that.. the last time I was this excited for a birthday it was when I was 16.
4. After finals its SUMMER. its day one of the new semester and its already on my mind... this will really be a long semester.
5. I should probably be excited for my cousin's wedding... I mean I really like receptions and the dresses, and judging/secretly planning future ones. {b.t.dubs my cousin is younger than me soo my family is putting the good old Utah pressure on me to be next...yeah no...aint nobody got time for that} {now taking applications to be my date to that}
6. LAKE POWELL, LAKE MEADE...basically sunshine and tanning. its 11 outside today and I haven't felt my toes for hours {so allow me to daydream a bit}

peace an' blessins

K {to the} A {to the} PPA {to the} GAMMA

For the past few months I felt my life needed a change. I felt as if all I did was school work and sleep. My life was bland and uneventful, and it honestly was not what I had hoped my college years were going to be like. I've been told that college is some of the best years of your life ( and the way I was going the rest of my life looked crappy.) I had wanted to get more involved on campus and meet more people, and I knew going Greek was a great way to do that. I had wanted to rush my freshman year( like most people) but with no scholarships to help pay tuition and a job that barely kept me able to attend school, rushing fall 10 was not an option. I knew my parents would help out if I needed tuition assistance(which they did) but I couldn't ask them to help me out if I needed the money for being in a sorority, so I let rush week come and go for 2 years. This fall, I decided that no matter what I would at least rush and get a feel of greek life and mingle with people. I fell in love with Kappa and knew that this year was my time to join {no excuses} I panicked when I realized the time committment{working at the hospital doesn't really allow for flexibility} but the actives in Kappa were {and are} so understanding. I instantly fell in love with my sisters. I've never made friends so fast. I've felt like I've known them my whole life. I feel like there is a bond there that couldn't have existed outside of this house. Whether it's watching the Walking Dead on Sunday nights, Taco Tuesday runs at Del Taco, camping in Island Park over fall break, or rapping in ΣΧ Derby Days I know that there is always something for me to do with my sisters. I love you PC12 and the rest of Kappa! :) (cue picture overload)
Big/Litte Reveal! I'm absolutely in LOVE with mine.

I'm sorry for the neglect

I originally decided on having a blog as a way to capture some of my thoughts without having the whole journal thing. But, like most things lately, I've neglected it. Seeing as my last post was oh so dramatic and seemed like 2012 was going to be the worst year of my life. I feel as if I should a) start by recapping my entire summer( didn't do much so it shouldn't take to long) and also talk about how school has started up again (yay football!) On a sidenote 2012 has turned out fantastic since my last post.

SUMMER:
Well, seeing as I work at the Hospital there isn't as much free time as I would like to sunbathe and travel as I would like, but, I always seem to end up having a great summer regardless.
It started out with my work having a 5K at the rec center close to my house (so I had really no excuse to not get out and participate) I had been going to the gym regularly and thought this would be a great way to continue working out my knee. I ended up having such a fun time with my coworkers that ran it too. I wasn't the fastest and I wasn't the worst. My knee did great and that's all I really care about.
This picture is also the last one I have with my friend Keith from work. He moved back home to Las Vegas at the end of summer to attend school there. He would have been an idiot to pass up the scholarship they offered him.
(ok just kidding here is the last picture we have together..his official last day in the lab.. I cried like a baby)

LAKE POWELL
 so remember that little goal I had of  getting in a bikini by Lake Powell?? well that goal might not have happened the year I had planned it, but it happened. All that time at the gym paid off. I've officially lost 30lbs since starting college and as a present I went and got my belly button pierced. Our Lake Powell group was small this year, but I think it was just as fun.
I took this photo the last day we were on the lake. As like past trips there is always a big storm Saturday and I am so glad I was able to capture the beauty of the lake after the storm. (Thanks Instagram for making it look cooler)

My family also went up to Yellowstone and went river rafting in June. I had to work so I drove up and went river rafting and then came back home for the weekend.

FALL:
Well as inevitable as it is school started back up again. People left, work became more stressful, homework began to pile on.

May angels lead you in...

2012 is officially off to the worst start in my almost 20 years of life{ dramatic huh?} i'm not even joking though. The 65 days this year have been some of the most challenging times. I have been forced to grow up and be an adult and face the world in ways I hadn't thought would come now. {breathe easy...i'm not pregnant or engaged} first off, on Jan 4th I had knee surgery for an extra tissue/torn plica. Day one of school sucked on crutches.But,thanks to Mark at Mountainland I am back in fighting shape and ready to hit the gym hard{bikini by Powell..remember?} then, on Feb 1st,Sophie's birthday, I got in a car accident {my fault} and had to pay the ticket and the repairs... Yeah on top of the 1500 I had left to pay of tuition. I was stressed out for Weeks over that, but thanks to some miracles I was able to pay all three and stay afloat. I honestly have no idea how.. Well 2012 cant get any worse right? {wrongo}then on Feb 27th the world lost one of the greatest men to ever live on it, my Popi. he succumbed to the Cancer that had racked his body for 14 long and painful months. I will forever cherish the  moments we were able to have together. One of my favorite moments was when he was visiting us from St.George and my mom had gotten a box of chocolate from V's, well Popi wouldn't let his Diabetes ruin the opportunity to indulge in some chocolate, and he ate the entire box. my grandma was so mad and made him check his sugars {which he didn't} he never let his disease control him which has been very inspiring. Yesterday my moms cousin Debbie succumbed to her cancer. I am so thankful for the gospel in my life and the knowledge that this life isn't the end, I will see my Popi again. All I can do now is make him proud of the woman I am becoming.

when I'm not feeling well...

I usually will end up watching pointless youtube vids. yep. even in the summer..my geek-a-tude can't be hidden.. remember this hilarious commercial..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIutgtzwhAc&feature=youtu.be

I'm thoroughly convinced the men aren't actors. just some random males they found on the street and promised the whole fridge of Heineken if they would be filmed.

another one of my all time commercials (thanks to the brits)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbmbMSrsZVQ

I think they nailed it right on the head..but thats just me :)

Where I'll be spending the majority of my summer

Can't wait to get to Powell with these munchkins (minus sophie mae)
